1. Forest Guards patrol assigned forest areas on foot and by other means to prevent illegal timber cutting, poaching, encroachment on forest land, and unauthorized removal of forest resources. Daily patrols cover significant distances through often difficult terrain requiring physical fitness and endurance throughout the year.
2. Guards report illegal activities, encroachments, and environmental violations to their Forest Range Officer, providing accurate written reports and maintaining a daily patrol diary as required by the Forest Department’s field monitoring procedures.
3. Forest Guards assist in implementing reforestation and plantation activities by monitoring planted areas, reporting survival rates, protecting young saplings from grazing animals and unauthorized removal, and supporting the technical staff during plantation campaigns.
4. Guards enforce the provisions of the KPK Forest Act and related environmental legislation within their assigned beat area, issuing warnings to violators and supporting prosecution proceedings where required by their supervising officer.
5. Fire prevention and early detection of forest fires is a critical seasonal responsibility for Forest Guards especially during dry summer months when the risk of accidental or deliberate fire in forest areas is highest.
6. Guards maintain clear demarcations of forest boundaries, reporting any encroachment or boundary disputes to the Range Officer, and assisting in the preparation of records related to their assigned beat area.

Required Qualifications

Intermediate FSc from any recognized board is the minimum educational requirement. KPK domicile is mandatory — candidates from other provinces are not eligible for these posts. Age must be between 18 and 25 years at the time of application. Physical standards of minimum height 5 feet 6 inches and chest measurement of 32 to 34 inches must be met. The physical fitness test requires completing a 1.6 km run in 15 minutes and a 3-mile walk in 45 minutes.

Candidates already in government service must apply through proper channel with NOC from their department. Candidates with fake academic or service certificates will be immediately disqualified and legal action will be taken against them. A Clearance Certificate from the police is mandatory before final appointment.
